“Watching the 2012 London Olympics is when I knew I wanted to represent NZ on the International Stage”
As an 8yr old kiwi kid living on a farm in Manakau, Levin; I loved working with animals and had a great sense of adventure. I was always an outdoor kid from the time I was born, helping Dad on the farm and loved playing sport. Trying my hand at many different sports such as hockey; netball; swimming; dance and rugby which Dad tried to get me into as a 4yr old….. lets just say none of them really filled my passion as much as Horse Riding.
My Dad, Clive; had ridden as a young kid on his parents farm. Brought up as a pony club kid he wanted to give me the opportunity to experience the fun of working horses and the joy they could bring. This lead me to my first lesson at a local riding school in Levin on the faithful 31yr old grey pony Shirlo. He was your classic riding school pony, for beginners he was quiet and slow; for confident riders he was responsive and speedy.
From there I was hooked and my parents didn’t stand a chance! 2 years later once I had proved I was dedicated and had all the skills I needed I got my first pony; Poppy. Poppy was a story in herself; classic case of parents don’t know much crossed with some slightly dodgy dealing we got what we thought was a 7yr old pony that had done a bit of everything. However….. after the first vet visit we discovered she was actually only 3 yrs old!!! This first buyers mistake turned out for the better as poppy was the perfect bomb proof first pony who gave everything a good go and never put a foot wrong.
Following that I had a succession of equine partners who taught me heaps and all their lessons made me who I am as a rider today. I am now very lucky to be based in the UK with my gorgeous mare - Henton Audacious; and I cant wait to see what the future holds for us.

I am a dedicated rider, who is passionate, driven, hard working, someone who values honesty, family and above all putting the horses best interest first. I am strong believer in enjoying what you do with your life as life is short and you have to make the most of it. I am really enjoy working with horses and seeing the hard work pay off with successfully performance. Ill be the first person to tell you that i’m very competitive but its not always about coming out on top. Sometimes its about beating your own personal best, achieving your individual goals and striving to be better than your last performance; with winning being the icing on the cake!
As a Professional rider I have a lot to offer, whether your a potential Owner; Sponsors or someone looking for help with your horse. Check it out below

I started my journey in New Zealand at the Dragon Equestrian Jump Park in Manakau, Horowhenua. Dragon Jump Park is an amazing equestrian facility where I grew up and my riding career started. I started riding when I was 8yrs old, and encouraged by my dads love of horses from his pony club days. Then having access to our beautiful farm in Manakau; which dad has been developing over the last 30 plus year; only added fuel to the fire when it came to my love of horses. Next grew my love for cross-country jumping logs and bushes on the farm, so we we went to our local event at Waikanae Park and have never looked back. Growing up in New Zealand its an equestrian is a special thing and the opportunities it presented me I will never forget. We have such a wonderful culture and equestrian community in NZ and I am so grateful to everyone back home who help make me the rider I am today.
Dragon Equestrian Jump Park is run by my amazing parents, Clive Long and Pamela Douglas, and provides everything you need to train your horses; coach students; run Pony Club camps or even for a weekend getaway. There facilities are available for hire via getting in contract with us on Facebook - Dragon Equestrian Jump Park.

Dexter - Sausage was my first big time horse who we brought from the USA in 2017. He taught me that sometimes things just aren’t meant to be but that doesn’t mean you give up. You find a solution and keep moving forward.
